Mercedes Benz: C-Class opens another new
car
The Mercedes Benz was
opened many version of car: Mercedes-Benz, Inside Line, C-Class etc. It's not completely defunct in that its
architecture has been carried over for the new car, meaning the CLC does not share underpinnings with the
new-generation C-Class. At first glance, it's clear that Mercedes is trying to leave the past behind,
looks-wise. Sure, the coupe profile is carried over, but the sharp-looking face of the new C-Class finds its way
onto the CLC's front end.
The Mercedes Sports Coup
has managed to do both: more than two thirds of buyers of the predecessor to the CLC were very satisfied with
their car and remained loyal to the brand.
Mercedes-Benz has opened a
stand-alone model series in the guise of the new CLC, the compelling entry-level model in the Mercedes-Benz coup
family.
The Sports Coup's design,
technology and equipment meet the discerning requirements of young drivers looking for an athletic car that
gives an involving drive, while at the same time delivering the hallmark Mercedes quality standards in terms of
safety, comfort, environmental compatibility and functionality.
The interior of the new
Mercedes-Benz CLC is akin to a contemporary tailor-made suit - custom-fit and comfortable.
I first thought it was
ugly but the more I look at it, the more I like it than another old Mercedes Benz. The rear end looks
significantly better than the old model. Furthermore, the design is also more appealing than the ugly B-class
and R-class. We're not sure U S consumers would take the bait a second time anyway. But there reportedly were
other designs being considered. A host of new and/or revised features will be included with the car, which
retains the same basic platform of the original Sports Coupe.
One typical feature of the
contemporary Mercedes design idiom is the arrow shape of the front end - a styling touch with a symbolic
character that emphasizes typical attributes such as forward motion and agility. These lines, which interact
harmoniously with the large, smooth surfaces, define the contemporary Mercedes design style.
The side view of the CLC
is unmistakable with its muscular lines.
The message is "Ready for
action" - all you have to do is get in, start the engine and press the accelerator to actively experience the
verve of the Mercedes Sports Coup.
Spoiler, tail lights and
bumper divide up the CLC rear end, emphasizing its width and adding decisively to the cars outstanding
expressiveness.
The sports package brings
out the very best in the CLC. Even with just its standard equipment, the new CLC offers a wealth of attractive
and practical features.
In it, you'll find design
inspiration for the model complete with numerous sketches of the CLC during early development; technical data
for each of the CLC's six engine variants; a comprehensive listing of the coupe's technological wizardry; and
much, much more.
